FAQ’s

  • Congrats on being selected to be on the cover of a magazine! I am honored to be your photographer and excited to meet you.

Our shoot will last about 30 minutes. Maybe a little bit longer.

I will call you beforehand and discuss creative ideas for your shoot and what to wear/bring.

We typically will shoot rain or shine unless the weather is very bad.

I will take a wide variety of photos including portraits, full length and candids.

You will be able to see your finished photos once the magazine has gone to print. Usually that is the beginning of the month prior to your “cover” month.

At that time, I will send you a link to your online gallery. The photos will be available to purchase. You can purchase single downloads, single prints, packages or the entire shoot.

There is an extra charge for commercial licensing.

You might also enjoy reading “Editing and Photoshop” and “How to Prepare” in this FAQ section.

  • Before our shoot we will talk or text so I can learn about what style of photos you like, what your goals of the shoot are, etc. You are welcome to send me screenshots of photos you’ve seen and loved.

Then we pick a location based on your style, ideas and the time of year. We typically shoot at a park or an urban setting. I have many favorite spots and can make suggestions based off your goals and the time of year.

About two weeks after our shoot I will email you a link to an online folder. The shared folder will have all the finished photos in full resolution.

They are yours to keep and there are no additional costs.

  • For the Full and Mid-Sized Photoshoots I usually talk or text with the senior to find out what style of photos they like. Many send me screen shots of photos they’ve liked.

Then we pick a location based on their style and ideas. Sometimes for the full-sized photoshoot it is a combination of a nature spot and an urban spot.

If you don’t have any ideas, don’t worry. I have plenty of location & photo suggestions for you!

A week or two after our shoot I will email you a link to an online folder. The shared folder will have all the finished photos in full resolution.

It will also have a sub-folder labeled “Yearbook” with the yearbook options cropped and sized according to your school’s yearbook specifications. You just need to save your favorite and submit it to the school.

  • You will receive your photos in a week or two after our shoot, maybe a little longer if it is the busy season.

I will email you a link to an online folder with all the finished photos in full resolution.

I can also give you the photos on a thumb drive if you like.

The finished photos are yours to keep and there are no additional costs.

  • Will you post our photos on social media? In my experience some people love it and some people hate it. My number one goal is having you LOVE your photos and your experience with me! If you do not want any of your photos on social media - that’s fine with me! Just let me know.

  • I determine pricing by the time it takes to edit the shoot not by the duration of the shoot.

It takes me a minimum of 20 minutes to edit each photo.

I like to be up front about my pricing so it is all listed on my web site.

Rather than charging customers for more photos or prints, I provide the full collection of edited digital photos for you to keep and print where you like.

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. You can pay online while you book your session. If you wish to book via text or email, you can pay with cash, check, Zelle, Venmo or PayPal.

  • I spend about 20 minutes per photo editing!

My general rule of thumb is that I eliminate everything on the subject that isn’t permanent like zits, cuts & bruises, fly-away hair, etc. I leave all of the permanent features alone like scars, moles, etc.

However I am happy to lighten or eliminate anything that bothers you.

My goal is for you to LOVE your photos. Just let me know!

  • If you read the “Editing” drop-down then you know you do not need to worry about any zits or cuts that might show up on photoshoot day. I will take care of that.

    Just be sure to:

    • brush your teeth

    • wash your face

    • dress yourself (and everyone involved) for the weather! If it is cold but you want to wear short sleeves in your photos, please bring a jacket or blanket to wear during downtime.

    • wear unwrinkled clothes

    • keep your cell phone and other items out of your pockets ( I can put them in a zipped pocket in my camera bag if you like)

    • if you’re bringing snacks please bring items that don’t show up all over the teeth.. treats like gummy bears, string cheese, grapes, fruit snacks work great. Goldfish & other crackers tend to show up in smiles.

    • other than that the key is to get any prep done ahead of time so you can be relaxed and have fun!

  • I would tell you to pick clothes that you feel comfortable in, show off your unique style and make you feel your best but you probably already know that!

    So these are my tips:

    • make sure everyone involved dresses for the weather or brings layers like jackets or blankets to wear over their “photo” outfits

    • try to keep clothing wrinkles to a minimum. They can be hard to edit out.

    • this is my go-to trick for group photos… Pick one article of clothing to start like a dress or a plaid shirt and then pull the colors out of that item for the official “palate.” For example if dad has on a navy, red, gold and green sweater then mom would look great in a gold or red dress/top and the kids could wear green and navy.

    • you can also search “family photo color palate” and find a wide variety of options, especially on Pinterest!

  • Would you like to add a few headshots to your family photos? Or add family photos to your high school senior shoot? Or perhaps a few quick pet photos to your high school senior shoot? The add-on option has worked out really great in the past!

See the “Pick Two” Pick Three’ and “Pick Five” packages in the online scheduler page.

  • Pets are welcome to your shoot… but please let me know if you are bringing your pet as some parks and locations do not allow them.

Also please remember that the more moving variables we have, the more time we will spend on each photo... which means that we may end up with a little less variety of photos if you bring a pet. I do have a few good tricks though so hopefully that will help!

I also do Pet Photoshoots! Great for holiday cards and wall art.

  • If you have hired me to take any sort of personal photos like: family photos, child photos, newborn photos, sports, high school senior photos, pet photos, even professional headshots, you have my full permission to use and print those photos as you like.

Although it is not required, I always appreciate it greatly when clients give me/my business credit for photos when shared on social media. My business grows almost entirely by word of mouth.

If you have hired me for commercial reasons, like product or tourism photography then the license for use and duration will be outlined in our contract.

  • Yes I “do” weddings… Now that my kids are so active in sports - I typically end up shooting just a handful of weddings per year based off my calendar availability. Small weddings, elopements, etc. Learn More Here

  • I have a contract with a professional-grade printer. If you’d like to use them to order prints (I don’t think the prices are too outrageous) just let me know and I will add that capability to your order. You also are free to order prints anywhere you like.
